Kenneth Harris II works as a mechanical engineer at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Prince George’s County in Maryland. He said he wants to show people of color that there’s a path for them toward STEM careers.

Super Soaker Inventor Faced Racism as a Black Engineer | NowThis
Before he created one of America's most iconic toys, Lonnie Johnson had to earn respect as a Black engineer — now he's inspiring the inventors and scientists of the future.

National Society of Black Engineers: History and Future
Today, Tony Harris (BSME '75) is a successful entrepreneur in California. But in 1971, he was a kid from the south side of Chicago who wanted to be an engineer, but had never taken a calculus class. His experiences at Purdue led him and 5 other Boilermakers ("The Chicago Six") to form the National Society of Black Engineers, which now has more than 30,000 members in 350 chapters around the world. Thanks to the seeds planted at Purdue, and the efforts of NSBE today, a new generation of African Americans are realizing the benefits of a STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and a career in engineering.

Black History Month | Celebrating Engineers That Move Humanity Forward
In honor of Black History Month, let's take a look at four famous African American engineers and their profound contributions from locomotives to the Space Shuttle.

Black Engineering since Ancient Kemet
The United States of America (USA), as a nation and experiment, is as wealthy as it is today because its fundamental and foundational infrastructures were built on free labor. This free labor, initially starting with mostly West Africans who were brought the USA during the dreaded Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade by mostly Jewish Slaver Traders. But a very special group of people in the USA fought against this. This special group of people are the original inhabitants of the USA. They are the indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" ( or original American "Indians" or "Black Indians") who already inhabited USA lands long before the arrival of the White-European worker-settlers and long before the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade of Africans. These USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" fought against the enslavement of Africans in the USA. Despite the clear differences in culture, the USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" shared many similar racial features with the enslaved West Africans and therefore recognized these Africans as fellow Humans. But as the White-European worker-settlers in the USA fought against their European masters for autonomy and self-determination, their growing ambition to trick-away authority and power from the USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" grew. Eventually, with the help of the their former European masters and help of some indigenous traitors, along with help from Mexican Native Americans, a great number of the USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" would also be enslaved along with the already enslaved West Africans. Many USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" would be shipped out to the West Indies and Liberia. Oppression against the descendants of USA indigenous-aboriginal "Blacks" continues today; who are regularly and routinely subjected to the most unfair, inhumane, systematic racist policies and treatment unknown before in human history. In times when White Europeans and Jews viewed Blacks erroneously as inferior, therefore inferior in intelligence, logic, mathematics and science, many Blacks surpassed all intellectual, academic and creative expectations; this despite deliberate systems of oppression and omissions of knowledge of their ancestral history in the USA as the indigenous-aboriginals White-European workers met upon their arrival. Many millenniums ago, the common ancestor of Africans and "Black" Americans were the first on the planet to discover Mathematics, Astronomy, Science, Architecture, Engineering, Medicine, Technology and much more, and Europeans only learned of these great ideas and development recently in history (during Moorish rule directly preceding the European renaissance) to advance themselves just a few hundred years ago. The "Black" American Indigene played no little role as initiators in shaping and developing the United States of America. Their fingerprint and footprints can be found in every corner of the United States of America. Untold amount of accomplishments made by the "Black" American Indigene have been hidden, plagiarized, stolen, belittle or played down by the racist ruling classes. The accomplishments of the "Black" American Indigene are often adopted and utilized with impunity and without given any credit to its originators. Despite all of this, "Black" people (the original people who inhabited the USA) continue to excel and contribute to world development and the future of Humans. For those who may not know, Ancient Kemet (Egypt) was designed, built ruled by ancient "Black" Africans and today, their descendants in the USA continue their traditions, traditions as old as humanity itself in creating wonders for all to witness, rejoice and celebrate, all for the purpose of Human happiness.
